Historically, women have made great strides in the fight for equality, including women’s suffrage and inroads to equal opportunity in the workplace and education.
However, despite the tremendous progress made in the struggle for gender equality, women still continue to face violence, discrimination, and institutional barriers to equal participation in society.
The coronavirus pandemic has certainly taken a heightened toll on women as professionals, and it is going to take a decade maybe even more to rebalance the gender disparity in the workforce.
It is my firm belief that businesses and industries are in the best position to innovate and grow when there is a heightened level of diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
To help employers, and job seekers alike reach this far-reaching initiative there should be more preparatory training for women seeking to enter the workforce, no matter where you are in your career journey, equal opportunity should be offered to women through webinars, masterclass sessions, counseling, and mentoring all in the effort to better equip women to take on roles and responsibilities, particularly in the male-dominated fields of interest such as STEM, public policy, law, economics, medicine, and pharmacy.
According, to a prominent journal, women are vastly underrepresented in the field of academic surgery. Furthermore, women surgeons are earning a disproportionate share in research grants, data released through the National Institute of Health.
More than ever, it is important for us women to come together and close the ever-widening gender disparity gap in the workplace, we need employers to place more emphasis on hiring not only the best and the brightest but to have diversity and inclusion as a key factor in the hiring process.
To help achieve this initiative North Atlantic Policy Center is launching a Women Empowerment, Diversity, Inclusion, initiative to help advance policies surrounding women’s rights.
North Atlantic Policy Center stands strong and will continue to push for changes around issues hindering women’s progress in the labor force and elsewhere the focus is and will continue to be in areas of employment, violence against women, and education. All in the pursuit to improves lives and strengthen communities
