This year has been like no other. The Coronavirus has affected our lives in untold ways, such as maintaining our distance from friends and families near and far.
There is so much pain and anguish in society as many have lost their jobs, or are facing cuts in hours or pay, and then there are those who are dealing with a loss of a loved one. If not then just feeling vulnerable.
For me “We are all in this together means, feeling negatively impacted. We may be in different places, but we all have felt some sort of a negative setback due to the Coronavirus.
For many, this holiday season will be marked with increased feelings of isolation, loneliness, anxiety, and depression. It's very important for these feelings of sadness to have a place to go. So it's very important to funnel that energy and anxiety and create new traditions.
Usually, the holidays are chaotic with travel and holiday preparation. Don’t miss this opportunity to engage in self-care, if anything don’t try to fill that time with extra work.
My mantra “Maximize Mental Health, while Minimizing the COVID-19 risk.”
· Take time to relax and give care and focus on self-care
· Fill your cup with good reads, exercise, get more sleep
· Try to get outside in the morning even if it’s cold
Surely, there is grief at not having the same traditions, but there is certainly a joy to be felt in creating new ones. The beauty of inventing new traditions, it starts a path that leads to more discovery and more connections.
Wishing you and those you love peace at Christmas and throughout the holiday season, this is what makes this season so joyful and bright.
Stay Healthy and Stay Safe
